Hemming Morse’s Paul Regan Presents to the CalCPA Forensic Services Steering Committee Regarding the FTX Bankruptcy, its Auditors, and Possible Audit Failures

Paul Regan, a Partner at Hemming Morse, recently co-presented to the CalCPA Forensic Services Steering Committee on January 22nd, 2023, regarding the FTX bankruptcy from an auditor’s perspective. Mr. Regan discussed the FTX bankruptcy, relevant auditing standards & procedures, internal controls, and the likely areas of inquiry as FTX moves through its bankruptcy and expected litigation. Other topics touched on by Mr. Regan and his co-presenters included fraud indicators present with FTX, as well as the nature of fraudsters and any similarities with FTX management.

Paul Regan has been a CPA since 1970 and has been engaged in more than 750 complex litigation matters. He is a past chair of CalCPA, as well as its Litigation Services Steering Committee and Economic Damages Section, and is the author of The Forensic:  How the CIA, a Brilliant Attorney and a Young CPA Brought Down Howard Hughes published in 2021.
