Hemming Morse Partner Carl Saba was retained as an expert on behalf of state attorneys general in litigation against Meta Platforms, Inc., concerning alleged harms to children and teens associated with Facebook and Instagram. The matters included In re Social Media Adolescent Addiction/Personal Injury Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 3047, as well as multiple related state actions.
Mr. Saba performed financial and data analyses related to the states’ claims and monetary relief, submitted multiple expert reports, and provided expert testimony in connection with the matters. He was supported by Hemming Morse Principals Max Cranmer and Sacha Zadmehran.
On August 26, 2026, Meta reached a $17.1 billion multistate settlement with a coalition of state attorneys general. The settlement also includes changes to Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms.
